Now, I have been the owner of many bedrooms (well, technically I never owned them… my parents did). But what I’m trying to say is, as someone who has travelled a lot during their childhood, I know and appreciate the importance of making your home space special.
Everyone needs a ‘base’ in their life and somewhere they can retreat to and unwind after a long day. So here are a few simple things you can do to spruce up your space, whether that be your entire apartment or maybe just one room.
May these simple and easy-to-follow interior design tips, help you recreate a loving and safe place for you, wherever you are in the world 🙂
1) Make sure comfort is a main theme
Now this tip is especially important for your bedroom. Getting a good nights’ sleep is crucial for our health and well-being, so invest in good quality, comfy, beautiful linen and pillows. Things that will make you crave coming back home, and jumping into your pjs with a glass of wine for. Never underestimate the power of super soft bedding!
2) Have fun with your photos
I’ve actually just added this to my own bedroom. Get creative with creating photo collages of some of your favourite memories, friends, holidays and memoirs. Not only are they a great way of filling a blank wall or adding some colour, they also serve as a wonderful reminder of all the things we can be grateful for in our lives. My personal favourites are picture clips attached to little lights which help create a really peaceful, tranquil light setting at night.
3) Show off your best style pieces
This one is obviously one of my favourites, and if you’re on my website I’m guessing it’ll be yours too ;). Put that gorgeous pair of shoes, or new bag on the shelf when you’re not using it. Hang your beautiful new dress/coat/jacket on the outside of your wardrobe door, or on a wall to add some personal flare to your environment. It’s a great way of introducing fun colours and textures to areas, and also serves to tell your guests a little bit more about the type of person you are. As I always say, a lot can be revealed through your wardrobe.
But most importantly, have fun with it. Life is all about having fun and finding ways to make your days just that little bit sweeter… so enjoy the experience and let your inner creative come out to play.
